BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 are human genes and they produce tumour suppressor proteins which means they help to ensure cells remain stable. When there is a mutation to the BRCA 1 or 2 genes, it means that cells are more likely to mutate and hence cause breast cancer.
At LHC we see many patients who have had a diagnosis of a BRCA gene.
We support these patients through the preoperative decisions and help optimise their hormonal health after surgery.
