Infertility

84% of couples will conceive within a year of trying for a baby and approximately 92% will conceive within two years.

Others may experience infertility; the term used when, despite regular intercourse with no contraception, a woman fails to become pregnant.

On average, people are advised to see their GP if they have not conceived after a year. However, after six months, it may be possible to carry out initial tests, particularly if a woman is over 35.

There are many causes of fertility problems, including polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, tubal damage from untreated sexually transmitted infections, diabetes and premature menopause.

Problems can also occur in men, so it’s important to be checked as a couple.

At LHC, we look at any underlying problems and assess lifestyle factors that can influence a couple’s ability to conceive. Offering the level of relevant support needed, we also ensure levels of reproductive hormones are present.
